Maddison's Medicine

Maddison is doing really well on her medicine!  She will get it everyday for the rest of her life! We hope in 6 weeks when they do her blood work to check her thyroid everything comes back okay!

Endocrinologist

Well I guess there is good news and bad.  Maddison is not in extreme danger, like I had pressumed.  She is going to have to be on medicine for the rest of her life!  She will need blood work forever, which I really hate!

But I truely do feel blessed.  We have made it this far without to much trouble!

I met a little boy that has Down syndrome at the doctors office.  He was one, and he cried ALOT.  I felt like he must be in some kind of pain.  His mommy sat him next to Maddison on the floor.  He was trying sooooo hard to sit up.  Every time he cried out Maddison's lip would poke out a little further.  She hates screaming.

She did get to swing today!  Which made all the doctors disapear for awhile!

No better news

We got the second set of results back for Maddison's Thyroid, and the number is even higher.  Boo Hoo.  She goes on Thursday to see the endocrynologist.  I've spent a lifetime having our oldest daughter do blood work, I am so sad we will have to repeat it with Maddison.  The thyroid medicine should be interesting to give to Maddison, she can't really take a pill.  She can't swallow thin liquid like water, and she is not allowed to eat an hour before or after......  Need some ideas how to give it to her.  Hopefully we can just put it in a bite of yogurt or something.  Looking for info about why her number is so high!

Sooo Worried!

I took Maddison to a geneticist last week.  They did a panel of blood work.  Which was sad enough.  I got a call today saying Maddison's thyroid is totally out of whack.  They were expecting a number between a 4 and 10.  Which would be bad, but not awful. They called today to say Maddison's number was a whopping  164!!!!!!!!!!  WHAT???  I called Aaron crying and scared.  They wanted her to repeat the blood work.  I made daddy go with me today.  I needed someone to help me hold her down.  I hate that part. It was so sad.  But I am hoping there was huge MISTAKE!  They will let me know tomorrow what the results are.  I have an appointment with the endocrinologist on Thursday.  Keep Maddison in your prayers tonight, and hope they forgot a decimal or something crazy!

Her pink little wrap and pink little face from crying!

Daddy sharing her first ice cream to make her feel all better!
I think it worked for both of them!

Learning to feed herself!

Hmmm, now comes the fun.  For a few weeks Maddison's Speech Therapist has been asking me to let Maddison feed herself.  I really want to, but that would mean a really big mess.  I was never the kind of mother who let my kids play in their baby food for texture purposes.  I just waited until they were ready to use the spoon and gave it them.  I was really trying to wait it out and use this method on Maddison, but Corrine really wants me to let her try.  So we started with less mess something I thought would provide much less of a mess,  A FORK!  Then an oreo cookie for dessert.  I think she liked it!

steady.....

 I think I got it...
 Woops backwords won't do
 Aha, Yummy

Good stuff!

Hidden Treasure

"I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron. I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name." Isaiah 45:2-3 (NIV)

I love this scripture.

I think Maddison was OUR Hidden Treasure!

Mama

I thought if Maddison said the word then I wouldn't show her the sign.  I practiced MaMa for a long time, but realized it was a little difficult to sign so I quit and practiced other signs. The other day I did Mama just to see what she would do and she copied me the first time!  She is so super smart!

While we were at the beach she started pulling up to stand on her own!  She is getting really strong.  I can't wait until she can walk!  She had therapy today and it looks like herPT thinks she won't need braces on her legs because her feet really don't turn out that much!  Which makes me happy, I hated hip huggers.
